Speaking Engagement

On May 20, Counsel Ali Jessani will be presenting on the new HIPAA cybersecurity proposed regulations, and Partner Arianna Evers and Senior Associate Sam Kane will host a session on cyber policy and procedures at the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators 2025 Hybrid Spring Meeting in Washington DC.

Ali’s presentation, scheduled from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. ET, will cover recent developments in health privacy, including the proposed HIPAA Cybersecurity Rule updates, new state laws regulating consumer health data, and enforcement trends. Privacy law in general is evolving at a rapid pace, but perhaps no specific area of data protection law is changing as quickly as health privacy. Companies that process health information (or data that is adjacent to health information) need to constantly assess the legal landscape to understand their potential compliance obligations.

Arianna and Sam will present alongside Chase Donnelly, Vice President of Technology at Insurance Design Administrators. Their session, scheduled from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. ET, will focus on proactive steps professional benefits administrators can take to adjust their cybersecurity policies and procedures to be best positioned in the event of a regulatory investigation or other inquiry.
