In collaboration with experts including Dr. Francis Kariuki FCIArb (Strathmore Law School) and Jackie Kithinji Oyuyo C.Arb (Managing Partner, Umsizi LLP), Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr’s Steven Finizio, Charlie Caher, Michael Arada Greenop, Louisa Salmon and Gordon Oduor will be offering an exclusive International Commercial Arbitration Training and Certification course through the Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre, a leading Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre in East Africa.

The 3-day training course is designed for professionals at all levels, and seeks to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills in international commercial arbitration. The training sessions will be held in hybrid format from October 7–9, 2024 at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya.

The course covers all of the stages of arbitration proceedings from drafting agreements through to enforcement and recognition of arbitral awards. It will address, among other things: diverse legal systems involved in international commercial arbitration; the role of courts; arbitration agreements; types of arbitration; commencement of arbitration; rights and obligations of the tribunal and parties; jurisdictional issues; managing the arbitral process; security for costs; presenting the claim and defence; costs and the award.
