A View from the UK Post-Brexit—The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) as a Front-Line Antitrust Enforcement

Join WilmerHale Partners Hartmut Schneider (Washington, DC) and Cormac O’Daly (London) on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 11–11:30 a.m. ET (5–5:30 p.m. CET) as they discuss the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) broad jurisdiction, its voluntary notification system and how parties must take account of the CMA when planning M&A transactions.

Following the UK’s departure from the EU, the CMA now has jurisdiction over an increased number of M&A transactions.  The CMA has long been a vigorous enforcer of competition law and parties to M&A transactions will now—more than ever before—need to consider the potential for CMA review of their transactions when planning M&A deals.

This is the second webinar in our series, Navigating Antitrust and Regulatory Issues in M&A Transactions: A European Perspective. Each webinar lasts 30 minutes and features WilmerHale’s European lawyers discussing how to manage the uncertainties around antitrust and other regulatory issues in M&A deals.

Participants will have the opportunity to contribute questions online.

*CLE credit is not available for those who watch a recording of the webinar.
