On January 26 and 27, the US-China Business Council hosted its annual Forecast conference. Panels and discussions included an economic forecast in the third year of COVID-19, a discussion with House Foreign Affairs Committee staff from both sides of the aisle, a briefing on trade and investment policy, an overview on data and cybersecurity regulation, and an expert exchange on how to navigate new export controls and sanctions.
WilmerHale Partner Lester Ross participated in a discussion titled "Data Management: China’s New Regulations." In 2021 China enacted both its Personal Information Protection Law and Data Security Law, adding new dimensions to its cyber data regime. Speakers will discuss the implications of how these laws tie into the Cybersecurity Law, and where China's cyber-data regime is likely to go from here.
