To effectively advise their corporate clients, in-house counsel need to speak management's language and know how to apply key financial concepts in providing legal advice about corporate transactions, legal compliance and other major business decisions. Doing this well requires an understanding of the basics of financial accounting, how to accurately interpret financial statements and how a company's financial position can affect a negotiation.
Attendees will participate in workshops with experienced legal practitioners and financial specialists to give them the opportunity to apply these concepts in the management reporting and M&A contexts, including valuing a business and structuring an acquisition, so that they can better converse with business executives. Reaching full potential as in-house counsel requires a unique blend of both professional legal skills and business acumen. This program is part of the ACC NCR Business Skills Series, which is designed to help in-house counsel develop business acumen.
WilmerHale is a sponsor of ACC National Capital Region and will present the Lawyers' MBA program along with speakers from Deloitte.
