William C. Kinder

Senior Associate


Will Kinder represents clients in complex commercial disputes, with an emphasis on intellectual property litigation in federal courts and administrative agencies. He has represented clients in patent, trademark and copyright disputes involving a variety of industries, including semiconductor, computer and pharmaceutical technologies. His practice involves all phases of civil litigation, including pre-suit investigation and pleadings, witness interviews, fact and expert discovery, depositions, taking and preparing witnesses for testimony, brief-writing, trials and appeals. He also has experience representing clients in government investigations and immigration proceedings.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Mr. Kinder was a law clerk for the Honorable Timothy S. Hillman of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Before law school, Mr. Kinder was an education policy associate at the Children's Defense Fund in Washington DC.

The Supreme Court today decided two important cases involving patent rights and inter partes review at the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). Both cases affirm the importance of Post-Grant Proceedings as a part of an Intellectual Property strategy and may portend changes to the processes at the PTO.
