Over the past twelve months, a notable group of senior laterals joined the firm from diverse positions in government and private practice. 

Denver

John F. Walsh, who served as US attorney for the District of Colorado from 2010 to 2016, has more than 30 years of experience in federal government and private practice. Mr. Walsh is a highly skilled litigator who focuses on complex litigation and dispute resolution, internal investigations, and government investigation response and crisis management, and also has deep experience advising clients on securities litigation, general commercial litigation and arbitration matters, both domestic and international. Mr. Walsh is a partner in the Litigation/Controversy Department's Investigations and Criminal Litigation Practice, Securities Litigation Practice and Business Trial Group.

Los Angeles

Lorraine B. Echavarria represents public companies, corporate officers, financial institutions, hedge funds and other financial market participants facing government investigations and enforcement actions. She joined WilmerHale from the US Securities and Exchange Commission, where she spent more than 15 years and was most recently the associate regional director and head of the enforcement program for the Los Angeles Regional Office. Ms. Echavarria is a partner in the Litigation/Controversy and Securities Departments.

Christopher Rose represents public and privately held companies on matters such as mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, joint ventures, and venture capital and private equity investments. He also has substantial experience representing boards, investors and portfolio companies, and helping investors and issuer companies successfully navigate complex legal and business challenges. Mr. Rose is a partner in the Transactional Department's Corporate Practice.

New York

David B. Haber has 20 years of experience guiding emerging companies and investors from formation through exit and successfully advising global corporations. His extensive career advising technology companies stretches from Silicon Valley during the late 1990s technology boom to his current New York practice, and encompasses everything from seed capital raising to expansion-stage financing transactions to multibillion-dollar public and public acquisitions. Mr. Haber is a partner in the Transactional Department's Corporate Practice.

Hallie B. Levin is a seasoned trial lawyer who serves as lead and co-lead counsel on high-stakes commercial disputes in federal and state courts and arbitral tribunals. With nearly 20 years of experience, Ms. Levin represents clients in a broad range of matters, including complex contractual disputes, business torts, sensitive employment matters, intellectual property and trade secrets cases, and internal investigations. Ms. Levin is a partner in the Litigation/Controversy Department's Business Trial Group.

Brendan R. McGuire advises clients on managing, anticipating and mitigating complex legal and regulatory issues related to white-collar enforcement, as well as on money laundering, national security, cybersecurity and privacy, and export controls and economic sanctions. An accomplished trial lawyer and litigator, he joined the firm after serving for more than 10 years as an assistant US attorney in the US attorney's office for the Southern District of New York. Mr. McGuire is a partner in the Litigation/Controversy and Regulatory and Government Affairs Departments.

Palo Alto

Eric Hwang has deep experience representing technology and life sciences clients on a wide range of transactions, including complex, cross-border mergers and acquisitions; strategic joint ventures; venture capital and private equity investments; and corporate governance matters. With a diverse background that includes in-house and business-side leadership roles at Oracle Corporation, his insight into strategic matters, financial analysis and business operations enables him to provide practical, contextualized advice and solutions to complex issues. Mr. Hwang is a partner in the Transactional Department's Corporate Practice.

Washington DC

Alejandro N. Mayorkas represents clients in civil litigation and internal investigations, and augments the firm's formidable strengths in strategic counseling, crisis management and national security with a focus on cybersecurity. Mr. Mayorkas previously served as deputy secretary of Homeland Security, where he managed some of the most complex and critical responsibilities of government, including preventing and responding to terrorist attacks on US soil, enforcing the nation's immigration laws, enhancing both the government's and the private sector's cybersecurity, facilitating lawful trade and travel, and helping stricken communities recover from disasters. He is a partner in the Litigation/Controversy and Regulatory and Government Affairs Departments.
