Knute J. Salhus was a highly regarded corporate and securities lawyer with more than 30 years of experience advising domestic and foreign companies and financial institutions on corporate finance, governance, and federal securities law compliance. Before retiring in 2023, his practice covered public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, securitizations, and other complex financing transactions. He regularly counseled clients on disclosure obligations and compliance under key regulatory frameworks, including the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act, and the Dodd‑Frank Act. Mr. Salhus brought deep government experience to his practice, having served as Special Counsel in the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Corporation Finance, where he handled legal and policy matters related to public offerings and filings across industries such as structured finance, technology, insurance, entertainment, and investment banking.

Drawing on his SEC background, Mr. Salhus advised clients on evolving governance standards, stock exchange rules, and regulatory expectations, helping them structure and negotiate strategic business transactions. He was recognized for his work in corporate governance, including multiple recommendations in The Legal 500 United States. An active member of the professional community, he frequently wrote and spoke on securities law topics and belonged to organizations including the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Securities and Exchange Commission Alumni.
