Before retiring in 2024, Justin Watts was a partner in WilmerHale’s London office. He was an experienced patent litigator with a well‑established intellectual property practice. He advised clients on complex, often multinational disputes involving patents, standards, and competition law, with particular emphasis on the pharmaceutical, medical devices, biotechnology, communications, and hardware and software sectors. His practice encompassed the full range of IP litigation, and he also advised on related transactional matters in the technology, media, and communications industries. Prior to joining WilmerHale, Dr. Watts was a partner in the global IP/IT practice of another international law firm.

Dr. Watts represented a broad range of international clients in major multi‑jurisdictional patent disputes, including litigation across Europe and other key markets. His work included acting for life sciences and technology companies in large‑scale infringement proceedings, defending and asserting patents across numerous jurisdictions, and advising on technically complex disputes involving advanced engineering and scientific subject matter. Clients included leading pharmaceutical, medical device, and technology companies, as well as participants in the global mobile communications industry.
