A recent Order by the DC Court of Appeals has allowed the DC Access to Justice Commission to continue its work for equal access to justice for low and moderate income DC residents. The Court of Appeals established the Commission in 2005 for an initial three-year term to work on improving access to the civil justice system for low and moderate income residents and others who face barriers to access. The new Order continues the Commission without a fixed termination date.
WilmerHale is proud to be a leading supporter of the Commission, and has pledged to contribute an additional $25,000 as the Commission enters its next phase of work. This pledge was also made by three other leading DC law firms, including Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Covington & Burling LLP, and Steptoe & Johnson LLP. Venable LLP has generously provided the Commission with office space, and DLA Piper US LLP serves as its lead pro bono counsel.
