This program, presented by TiE-Boston, will cover two precedents for large scale risks that were not properly anticipated in the financial world – hurricane damage and the current financial crisis. Speakers will discuss if and how institutional investors will be prepared to incorporate large scale climate change risks into their investment portfolios. Furthermore, they will evaluate how the due diligence process can lead investment decisions to consider shorter term, more micro-scaled risks and lead to tunnel vision and blindness with regard to larger scale structural risks and consider climate change in this light. Speakers will also contemplate a set of questions for institutional investors to consider in terms of how climate change may impact exposures in five asset classes: infrastructure, private equity, tradeable equities, real estate and natural resources.
