MIT presents a special interests seminar entitled, " Product Authentication Applications for RFID." The World Customs Organization estimates that the global trade in fakes are about 7% of world trade and the World Health Organization estimates that 10% of the world’s pharma products are counterfeited and putting US consumer health at risk. Counterfeiting and piracy costs the US economy $200B annual and have led to the loss of more than 750,000 American jobs. Attendees will learn about the business opportunities that are present for the RFID industry, the role RFID technology can play as a remedy, and the technology limitations and initiatives to tackle this global challenge.
