A very rewarding aspect of working with life sciences startups is having the opportunity to engage with passionate scientists, clinicians and leadership teams that are driven by a deep and fundamental desire to advance medicine and science and improve health outcomes for patients.

Experience: I have more than 30 years of experience in serving as a trusted adviser to companies in the life sciences industry. I provide strategic business counsel to boards, management teams and in-house counsel, representing high-growth private and public companies in day-to-day corporate matters and helping companies navigate through complex business transactions. My experience includes representing a wide range of privately held life science companies in formation and general corporate matters as well as early-stage, bridge, mezzanine and cross-over venture capital transactions. I also represent a wide range of publicly traded life science companies in SEC compliance, governance and capital raising transactions, including IPOs and underwritten follow-on offerings, and alternative capital raising and strategic equity transactions. Current clients include Auron Therapeutics, Mediar Therapeutics, Volastra Therapeutics, Agios Pharmaceuticals, AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Beam Therapeutics, Cue Biopharma, Curis, Nuvalent, Schrödinger, Syros Pharmaceuticals and Xilio Therapeutics.

Off the clock: I have a daughter in college and two standard poodles that keep me busy. I recently started playing golf after a 30-year hiatus. I love to read. And when I have time, I have interest in collecting early 20th century art pottery (which means I also love to thrift).

Book recommendations: I would recommend any books by Simon Winchester, such as Atlantic, Pacific, or Krakatoa: The Day the Earth Exploded. He is a trained geologist and I find his books interesting if not a tad long.

Memorable travel: I love the Greek islands and have had the privilege to travel to Greece a number of times. I have also had a very memorable experience hiking to May Lake in Yosemite National Park as a young lawyer, which took me totally off the grid for several days.
