Valentino Halim advises international and German companies on European and German data protection law, particularly in the technology sector, as well as information technology law, including outsourcing.

Mr. Halim advises clients on data protection issues in the context of administrative and judicial proceedings, including representing clients against fines and damage claims under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He has deep knowledge of GDPR and other national European data protection laws, especially relating to the implementation of digital business models, IT systems and online platforms in compliance with these laws.

Mr. Halim also advises clients on drafting IT contracts for software creation and licensing, outsourcing, as well as contracts for digital platforms and new technologies. He also counsels clients on cybersecurity, compliance and e-commerce matters. 

In addition, Valentino Halim provides ongoing advice on issues at the intersection of telecommunications and data protection law, including matters related to national level implementation of EU directives such as the European Electronic Communications Code and the European ePrivacy Directive. 

Valentino Halim joined WilmerHale in 2022. Previously, he worked as a data protection and IT lawyer for international law firms in Frankfurt and Berlin. During his legal clerkship, Mr. Halim has also worked abroad, including clerking at a Chicago-based law firm in the privacy and technology practice group, among others. 

Professional Activities

Mr. Halim is an active member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Recht und Informatik e.V. (German Association of Law and Informatics) and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft IT-Recht im Deutschen Anwaltverein (IT Law Working Group of the German Bar Association).
