Todd Rumberger is a leading corporate lawyer who has built a distinguished practice representing venture capital and corporate investors and early-to late-stage companies in a variety of industries, including mobility/auto-tech, digital media, financial services, digital health, e-commerce, food/food tech, cybersecurity, software and mobile telecommunications sectors and capital market transactions. 

Mr. Rumberger has substantial experience advising founders, investors and companies on formation, capitalization, employment issues, corporate governance, early- and late-stage venture capital and debt financings, strategic commercial agreements and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Rumberger is a member of the California Bar, the Florida Bar (inactive) and the Pennsylvania Bar (inactive). He is also a member of the American Bar Association. 

Before joining WilmerHale, Mr. Rumberger was managing partner of another law firm’s Palo Alto office, where he also served as that firm’s co-chair of its technology industry team and vice chair of its transactions practice. 

Mr. Rumberger is active in his community, and serves as an advisor to the nonprofit Quest Scholars, an organization that serves low income youth who aspire to higher education. He is also involved with Women Who Code, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring women to pursue and excel in technology careers. In addition, Mr. Rumberger works with the MAD Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to improving food culture, and several other 501(c)(3) organizations which he helped to form.

Mr. Rumberger has authored several publications, including The Acquisition and Sale of the Emerging Growth Company: The M&A Exit, published by Thomson Reuters/West Publishing (2020); How to Leave a Company and Not Get Sued (2006) and Top 5 Exit-Deal Killers for Early-Stage Companies (2013), published by VentureBeat; and co-authored US Investors Continue to Play a Role in Growth of European Startups, which appeared in Bloomberg BNA (2017). He has also been interviewed by California Lawyer to comment on recent trends occurring in mergers and acquisitions both in the United States and abroad. Additionally, Mr. Rumberger frequently lectures on topics such as mergers and acquisitions, startup formation and financing.
