Teresa (Terry) Johnson is co-chair of WilmerHale’s Sports & Gaming Practice, and a partner in the firm’s Transactional Department. Ms. Johnson is an experienced sports and corporate transactions lawyer with over three decades of experience advising clients on securities transactions, corporate governance and capital markets matters. Her clients are major professional sports organizations – including teams in the National Football League (NFL) and Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) – wineries, owners and businesses throughout the wine industry, public and private companies, boards, senior executives, family offices, and high‑net‑worth individuals. Ms. Johnson’s sophisticated industry knowledge allows her to strategically counsel clients through increasingly complex markets and high-stakes transactions.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Johnson served as a partner and co-head of the capital markets practice at an AmLaw 100 firm. She has an expansive thought leadership platform, writing and speaking extensively on Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) and transactional matters, including in the Financial Times. She is also one of the lead editors of Environmental, Social, Governance: The Professional’s Guide to the Law and Practice of ESG (ABA).

Ms. Johnson previously served as President of the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Justice & Diversity Center and is a leader in the Legal Alliance for Reproductive Rights. She earned her JD from Stanford Law School, where she served on the Stanford Law Review, and her AB from Harvard University.
