
Paul Caintic
Senior Associate
Paul Caintic is an environmental lawyer who assists clients in their interactions with regulators, such as with permits, civil and criminal investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Caintic was an honors attorney in the United States Department of Justice’s Environment & Natural Resources Division – Environmental Defense Section. At DOJ, he served as lead counsel for the government for over a dozen cases arising under the CAA, CWA, CERCLA, TSCA, EPCRA, ESA, and NEPA, including in the Fifth, Tenth, and Federal Circuits. Mr. Caintic served in both a defensive and enforcement capacity, such as by defending rulemakings promulgated by EPA and enforcing section 404 of the CWA. Mr. Caintic received two Assistant Attorney General Awards for Excellence while at DOJ, in part for his performance second-chairing the first trial ever conducted under TSCA. Outside of litigation, Mr. Caintic advised federal agencies on proposed regulations, permitting decisions, and environmental reviews.
