Nitin Shukla is an associate whose practice focuses on US and foreign patent prosecution, prior art and patentability search, inter partes review, and patent litigation. Dr. Shukla works with a variety of technology clients, including those in the engineering, energy, computer technology, clean energy, materials, mechanical and medical devices, semiconductor fabrication, and nanotechnology sectors. 

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Dr. Shukla was an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he helped establish clean technology research initiatives to serve the energy and environmental missions of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Prior to this, as a Senior Technical Staff at Fraunhofer CSE, he spearheaded several government and industry sponsored R&D projects aimed at developing highly energy-efficient building materials, advanced solar technologies, and energy storage materials.

Dr. Shukla received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech with a focus on the nanoscale energy transport and femtosecond laser-based thermometry. Subsequently, he worked as a Postdoctoral Associate in the NanoEngineering Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he developed thermal management solutions for microelectronics and optoelectronics devices.

Dr. Shukla has published more than 35 peer-reviewed scientific articles, has given numerous invited lectures, and has served as the reviewer and organizer for several prestigious scientific journals and conferences.
