Jeff Olshan focuses his practice on complex litigation and enforcement matters, including securities litigation, regulatory enforcement and internal investigations. He has represented financial institutions, trading firms, broker-dealers, FinTech companies, accounting firms and corporations, as well as their officers and directors, in connection with government investigations, securities fraud class actions, regulatory enforcement matters and internal corporate investigations. He also advises clients on anti-money laundering, financial crime and financial sanctions issues. Additionally, he has experience in all phases of litigation, including electronic and written discovery, depositions, motion practice, trial and appeals.

Mr. Olshan maintains an active pro bono practice, and through this work has represented individuals in immigration proceedings, as well as in federal civil rights litigation at the trial and appellate levels.

In 2019–2020, Mr. Olshan served as a special assistant district attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, where he was responsible for prosecuting several hundred criminal cases in Malden District Court. While in that position, he tried a variety of criminal matters to both juries and judges and argued dozens of motions on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Prior to joining WilmerHale as a summer associate in 2014, Mr. Olshan was a judicial intern for the Honorable Cynthia J. Cohen of the Massachusetts Appeals Court assisting with a variety of civil and criminal issues and performing research for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's Committee to Study the Code of Judicial Conduct.

  • Selected for inclusion in the 2022–2024 editions of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for commercial litigation. 
  • In 2016, the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice honored Mr. Olshan for his commitment to public service as a result of his work on a racial discrimination case brought against the Boston Police Department.
