Erin Marie Meyer

Pro Bono Counsel

Erin Marie Meyer is WilmerHale’s pro bono counsel. In this role, Ms. Meyer leads the firm’s global pro bono program and develops opportunities for the firm’s attorneys to participate in pro bono matters that increase access to justice for underserved communities around the world. Ms. Meyer cultivates strong partnerships with a diverse network of nonprofits and legal services providers to ensure that the firm’s pro bono efforts will address areas of greatest need and make a meaningful impact on the individuals and organizations served.

Before joining WilmerHale, Ms. Meyer was a pro bono counsel at other international law firms, where her practice focused on gender justice, LGBTQ+ rights and humanitarian immigration. She has extensive experience in representing survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and homophobic and transphobic violence. For more than seven years, Ms. Meyer acted as co-counsel to the National Center for Law and Economic Justice and the Natural Resources Defense Council in representing public housing tenants suffering from asthma in a class action litigation to compel the New York City Housing Authority to remediate mold and excessive moisture in the tenants’ apartments.

Prior to her law firm career, Ms. Meyer worked on transgender rights matters at Lambda Legal and the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund.

Professional Activities

Since 2017, Ms. Meyer has served on the board of The Jim Collins Foundation, a nonprofit that funds gender-affirming surgeries for transgender individuals who need but cannot afford this medical care to achieve a healthy gender transition. Ms. Meyer is also an active member of the New York City Bar Association’s Pro Bono and Legal Services Committee.
