Andrew O'Brien, PhD

Technology Specialist

Andrew O’Brien is a technology specialist who joined WilmerHale in 2025. Dr. O’Brien assists lawyers in conducting scientific journal and patent searching, preparation of patentability, validity, freedom to operate, and infringement opinions, as well as analyses of issues that arise in patent litigation matters. Prior to joining the firm, he was a technical advisor at another global law firm.

Dr. O’Brien earned his PhD and MS at Drexel University, where he studied computer science and focused his dissertation on causal machine learning. He has conducted research and published numerous works on machine learning and artificial intelligence. Dr. O’Brien is currently pursuing his JD at Fordham University School of Law and is currently registered to practice before the USPTO.
