Andrea J. Robinson

Retired Partner

Andrea J. Robinson built a national practice defending securities, insurance sales practice and other financial services and commercial litigation, and she served clients in SEC, FINRA and other regulatory investigations as well as civil enforcement actions before retiring from WilmerHale in 2022. Over more than three decades, she handled individual, derivative and class actions, including challenges to disclosures and financial services, alleged accounting improprieties, insider trading, market manipulation and misconduct in insurance and annuity sales. Her enforcement work spanned issues such as options backdating, revenue sharing, market timing, failures to supervise, gifts and gratuities and suitability concerns. She also conducted internal investigations, advised on litigation‑avoidance strategies and compliance programs and counseled boards on fiduciary and other obligations. Earlier in her career, she served as a special assistant district attorney in Middlesex County, prosecuting criminal matters for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Her representative results include multiple dismissals of securities class actions in federal courts across the Second, First, District of Connecticut, Southern District of Florida and Southern District of New York, as well as appellate affirmances in the Second Circuit, reflecting her track record in complex public‑company litigation. She also secured dismissals for custodians in common‑law claims tied to third‑party account management. Throughout her career, she remained active in professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and the Association of Life Insurance Counsel.
