Visa Waiver Program and the Electronic System for Travel Authorization

Client News
The Department of Homeland Security recently announced changes to the Visa Waiver Program, which allows nationals of certain countries to travel to the US for either tourism or for business for stays of 90 days or less without first obtaining a visa. In addition, on January 15, 2009, a final rule will take effect requiring certain federal contractors to enroll and participate in the E-Verify program. The rule requires these federal contractors to use the E-Verify program to verify the employment eligibility of all new hires, and the eligibility of existing employees who perform work directly under a federal contract. For more on the Visa Waiver Program and E-Verify Program, see our recent Email Alert.
