We are deeply saddened to report that our friend and partner Gerry Cater passed away on January 9. He had a keen intellect and a ready smile for all. Gerry was a devoted friend to many at the firm and we will all miss him. We have Gerry's widow, Mindy, and their boys, Evan and Geoffrey, in our thoughts and prayers.

Gerry's family tentatively plans to have a memorial service in the Washington area in the next several weeks. We will post information on the service when it is available. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to an educational fund that has been established for Gerry's two children. Contributions to the fund may be sent to:
