Hale and Dorr's Internet Practice Group recently advised the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in its negotiations with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) relating to the formation and structure of the Protocol Support Organization (PSO) required to advise ICANN on matters pertaining to Internet protocols and standards. Standards organizations that will participate in the PSO include, in addition to IETF, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C).

Attorneys who worked with IETF in the negotiations included Partners Geoff Stewart and Jorge Contreras.
