Firm Earns Top Spots on The American Lawyer A-List and Pro Bono Rankings

Attorney News

The American Lawyer named WilmerHale to its 2009 A-List, considered to be AmLaw’s most prestigious honor. The A-List comprises 20 law firms from the AmLaw 200 that are the “top tier of elite firms.” The A-List measures firms in four distinct areas: financial performance, pro bono commitment, associate satisfaction and diversity. This year marks the sixth year in which WilmerHale has been included on the A-List since the list was launched in 2003.

AmLaw has also published it annual Pro Bono listing, ranking WilmerHale as number 9 among the AmLaw 100 firms. This ranking is based on the average pro bono hours per lawyer and the percentage of lawyers with more than 20 pro bono hours last year. In its description of the Firm’s many pro bono efforts, AmLaw featured the work of our securities department in investigating the massive DC Office of Tax and Revenue embezzlement scandal.

“We are proud that the American Lawyer has once again recognized the wide range of accomplishments of our lawyers as reflected in our A-List and Pro Bono rankings,” commented Bill Perlstein, co-managing partner. “Working in a firm like WilmerHale allows our lawyers to make contributions to our clients and to our communities, and these rankings are a recognition of the breadth of those contributions.” .
