Boston Business Journal Honors WilmerHale with Education Partner of the Year Award

At its recent annual Corporate Philanthropy Summit and Awards breakfast, attended by 900 major business, government, nonprofit, and foundation representatives, the Boston Business Journal honored WilmerHale as an “Education Partner of the Year”, and also recognized the firm as a leading charitable contributor in Massachusetts. The firm was selected for the “Education Partner of the Year” award by an independent panel of judges, in recognition of the firm’ssustained and extensive work to enrich the lives of Boston-area youth.

Conceived in 1996, the firm’s Youth and Education Initiative contributes more than $825,000 over three years to Boston-based nonprofit partner organizations that focus on improving the educational opportunities available to urban young people. Partner organizations during 2007-2009 include Cathedral High School, Citizen Schools, Discovering Justice: the James D. St. Clair Court Education Project and Teen Empowerment. The Initiative has produced substantial results in terms of student morale, student and staff retention, college acceptance rates, child literacy, improved communication skills, career opportunities and community building.
