WilmerHale attorney Britany Riley‑Swanbeck has been named one of the 40 Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association. The annual recognition honors legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their fields and demonstrated a sustained commitment to advancing civil rights and equal access to justice.

Britany is counsel in the firm’s San Francisco office, where she focuses her practice on complex litigation and controversy matters. Her work includes trial and appellate litigation in state and federal courts, as well as advising clients on complex public law and governance issues. A citizen of the Cherokee Nation, Britany has represented state, municipal and tribal governments, public and private companies and individuals in a broad range of high‑stakes proceedings related to tribal sovereignty, anti-discrimination, consumer protection, and environmental management.

In addition to her client work, Britany maintains an active pro bono practice focused on protecting fundamental rights and ensuring fair treatment under the law, including matters involving civil rights, criminal justice and the defense of constitutional principles.

Britany and her fellow honorees will be recognized at the Lavender Law® Conference and Career Fair, taking place July 13–15, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois.
