Sonal N. Mehta Named to Daily Journal’s Top Antitrust Lawyers List

Recognition
Sonal N. Mehta, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Palo Alto office and vice chair of its litigation/controversy department, has been named to the Daily Journal’s prestigious “Top Antitrust Lawyers” list for 2025. Mehta was recognized earlier this year by the publication in its list of 2025 Leading Commercial Litigators

Mehta has built a distinguished practice defending technology companies in some of the sector’s most consequential antitrust cases. After more than two decades practicing in other areas, she shifted her focus to antitrust law six years ago as it became increasingly significant for her clients in the technology sector.

This year, Mehta secured a notable victory for Meta Platforms, Inc. in a class action seeking $158.4 billion, where plaintiffs alleged Facebook maintained a monopoly through misstatements about privacy practices. The court rejected the plaintiffs’ theory as “fanciful,” leading to the exclusion of their expert testimony, denial of class certification, and summary judgment for Meta. Mehta and her team also successfully defended Coinbase in a billion-dollar antitrust suit, defeating a temporary restraining order and ultimately seeing the lawsuit voluntarily dismissed with prejudice. Mehta continues to litigate high-stakes antitrust matters for clients including Google and Epiq Systems, Inc., tackling novel legal theories and complex factual records.

“The combination of novel technologies, untested legal theories, incredibly high stakes and the massive scope of the factual record—including extensive fact and expert discovery—has made these matters challenging and all-consuming, but also deeply rewarding,” Mehta said.
