Jamie Gorelick, Chair of WilmerHale’s Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, has been recognized by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) as one of the most influential leaders in corporate governance.
Gorelick has been named to the NACD’s Directorship 100 list for 2025 – a list which comprises the top 100 governance professionals who exemplify knowledge, leadership, and excellence in corporate governance and who play a significant role in shaping the greater boardroom agenda.
The award recognizes Gorelick’s five-plus decades in the law and her extraordinary contributions to corporate governance.
Gorelick is a respected member of corporate boards. She is currently on the board of Amazon, where she chaired the Nominating and Governance Committee for about a decade before becoming Lead Independent Director, and Verisign, where she currently chairs the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. She was also previously on the boards of United Technologies, Schlumberger and Fannie Mae.
Gorelick has also held key senior leadership roles in US government. As Deputy Attorney General from 1994 to 1997, she had one of the longest tenures of anyone in that position and was responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a department with more than 100,000 people and an $18 billion budget. She also was General Counsel of the Department of Defense where she guided the Department’s critical role in the defense-industry’s consolidation during the 1990s.
