Trump’s AI Strategy Takes Shape

Attorney News

Partner Joshua Geltzer discussed the Trump Administration's emerging AI strategy on the Just Security podcast hosted by Dr. Brianna Rosen. Geltzer was Deputy Assistant to the President, Deputy White House Counsel and Legal Advisor to the National Security Council during the Biden Administration.

The conversation covered two new Office of Management and Budget policies on federal AI use and procurement, issued in line with President Trump's executive order to remove barriers to American AI leadership. The policies emphasize federal adoption of AI, private sector leadership and international AI technology dissemination. Geltzer highlighted the continuity with and changes from the Biden Administration, noting the emphasis on energy sources for AI infrastructure, including nuclear power, and the de-emphasis on clean energy.

The discussion also touched on the challenges of AI implementation, the importance of transparency and the need for solid testing protocols. The discussion underscored the significance of AI in national security and the broader implications of the Trump Administration's AI policies.
