WilmerHale Recognized as Competition Group of the Year by Law360

Recognition

Law360 has named WilmerHale a 2020 Competition Group of the Year, a recognition which honors the law firms behind the litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry in the past year. WilmerHale is one of only six law firms to be recognized under the ‘Competition’ category.

As a part of the recognition, Law360 published a featured profile discussing the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Practice’s greatest strengths, as well as several recent notable achievements. The article highlighted the firm’s work on investigations in the cannabis and auto industries, including counseling six of the 10 cannabis companies through merger investigations by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and representing an automaker in a dropped probe by the agency over an emissions deal with the state of California.

The profile also spotlighted the firm’s role in T-Mobile’s $56 million merger with Sprint, which was cleared by the DOJ and then unsuccessfully blocked by 14 state-level attorneys general. Additionally, the piece discusses the firm’s representation of Danaher Corp. on its $21.4 billion purchase of General Electrics’ biopharma portfolio. The deal was cleared by the Federal Trade Commission in March with the sale of the rights to several products to Sartorius AG. Ultimately, Danaher received clearance by additional enforcers in other jurisdictions, including Europe, China Japan and Russia.
