Andrew Spielman Elected a Fellow of the Prestigious American College of Environmental Lawyers

Recognition

Partner Andrew “Andy” Spielman was elected a fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers, the nation’s most prestigious professional association for attorneys practicing in that area of law.

Mr. Spielman, chair of the firm’s Energy, Environment and Natural Resource Practice, was one of 24 recently elected fellows to the college. He is also partner-in-charge of the firm’s Denver office.

“The 24 lawyers elected to the college this year include the top environmental lawyers in government service, public interest, academia, and private practice drawn from across the country,” said the college’s president, John C. Cruden.

“These individuals, chosen by their peers, have earned this recognition based on achievements over a minimum 15-year period, during which they have led the field in diverse areas of environmental law and policy,” Mr. Cruden said.

“I am deeply honored to be given a place among so many extraordinary men and women, lawyers who have devoted their careers to this very important area of law,” Mr. Spielman said. “So many of the most complex and challenging issues of our time are environmental in nature, from climate change to sustainability. It is truly exciting to be involved in this area, let alone be recognized for what, for me, has really been a labor of love.”

In his practice, Mr. Spielman assists energy clients with policy and regulatory issues involved in developing new facilities. One of the nation’s pre-eminent public land lawyers, he also represents ski areas, mining, oil and gas companies, and tribal governments in the public land use and environmental permitting process before governments across the nation.

Mr. Spielman and the other new fellows will be officially inducted into the college at its annual conference later this year at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
