Robert Kimmitt Lands on Short List for Top American Lawyer Honor

The American Lawyer has named Robert Kimmitt as a finalist for The Transatlantic Legal Awards, which recognize lawyers' outstanding performance in handling transatlantic issues across a variety of practice areas including corporate, finance and disputes. Kimmitt is one of two finalists in the regulatory category for Transatlantic Lawyer of the Year. 

Kimmitt is a senior international counsel in the Regulatory and Government Affairs Practice at WilmerHale, and has received numerous honors for his achievements in recent years, including recognition in the 2012–2016 Best Lawyers in America editions for his government relations work. He was also listed among Washington's Best Lawyers by Washingtonian magazine for his national security practice in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Kimmitt has spent significant portions of his career in the public and private sector. Before joining the firm in 1997, Kimmitt was American Ambassador to Germany from 1991 to 1993. He also served as Deputy Secretary of the US Treasury from 2005 to 2009. He returned to WilmerHale in 2009, working in the Regulatory and Government Affairs Practice and co-chairing the Strategic Response Group.

Winners of The Transatlantic Legal Awards will be unveiled on June 4 at The American Lawyer's awards banquet in London.
