On September 24, Legal Times will celebrate "Three Decades of Legal Champions, Visionaries and Pioneers” with a gala awards dinner. As part of its celebration, Legal Times will recognize 90 D.C.-area lawyers who have made significant civic contributions over the last 30 years. Lawyers will be identified for their work in areas such as delivering legal services to the poor, providing leadership to bar groups and other associations, trying to improve legal ethics, and serving in government positions. Whatever their focus, these honorees will have served in an exemplary manner, demonstrating a deep commitment to the profession and holding themselves to the highest standards of excellence.

Five WilmerHale attorneys will be honored at this years' event. Jamie Gorelick willreceive the "30 Champions" award, given to thosewho have truly upheld the profession's core values of public duty and client service, by serving as bar presidents, taking on community causes, building pro bono practices, holding public service positions.Bill McLucas andBill Perlstein will receive the"30 Visionaries" award, given to thosewho stretched practices and built firms and companies. These are the lawyers who've helped turn Washington's legal and lobbying community into a international powerhouse.Lloyd Cutler andJohn Pickering will be honored with the "30 Pioneers" award, given to lawyers who are no longer with us but who, during the last 30 years, were instrumental in making Washington, D.C. legal community what it is today.
