High Frequency Trading: The Fundamental Shift from Human-Centered Futures, Derivatives and Securities Trading to Automated and Interconnected Trading

WilmerHale Partners Paul Architzel, Elizabeth Mitchell, Andre Owens and Dan Berkovitz—former General Counsel of the CFTC—will participate in a West LegalEdcenter panel discussion on the recent developments in CFTC and SEC guidance on automated trading, including high-frequency trading. WilmerHale Special Counsel Gail Bernstein will moderate the panel.

This discussion will highlight the agencies' guidance on these trading systems, particularly in light of recent and highly publicized market disruptions resulting from the fundamental shift from human-centered futures and derivatives markets to highly automated and interconnected trading environments. The panel will also address recent enforcement actions brought by both agencies in this area, including the recent settlement involving Knight Capital Group Inc.
