The Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors (AIRA) is a nonprofit professional association serving the bankruptcy, restructuring and turnaround practice area. This annual conference will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn from fellow members and distinguished speakers, including financial and legal experts, US trustees and bankruptcy judges and economists, among others.

On Friday, June 7, WilmerHale Partner Mitchel Appelbaum will participate on the panel "Distressed Investing." The discussion will follow a previous session and review the §363 sale process—filing the bankruptcy petition to closing the deal. Panelists will discuss post-petition issues involving alignments and conflicts between stakeholder and potential acquirer interests; potential conflicts between continuing the auction process post-petition and preserving enterprise value; and, despite the very short time available in bankruptcy, acquirer strategies to initiate the rehabilitation of the business.
