Wednesday, September 30, 2026 will mark 50 years since President Ford signed the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act and gave merger control its waiting period. 

Counsel Sarah Pugh will participate in a panel titled, "Premerger Notification – Future Challenges," on Wednesday at 4 p.m. during a half-day program commemorating the 50th anniversary, hosted by the American Antitrust Institute and The George Washington University Competition Law Center in Washington DC.

Sarah will join leading competition law practitioners and enforcers to discuss the future of premerger notification and merger review in an increasingly complex global regulatory environment. Panelists will examine evolving filing requirements, emerging enforcement priorities, and the practical challenges companies face as competition authorities expand scrutiny of transactions and coordinate across jurisdictions. The program will also explore how premerger review regimes may continue to develop in response to changing markets, technologies, and policy objectives.
