Is New York still a top choice for parties in Latin American commercial arbitration as a seat and for governing law?
Please join us for a panel discussion on Latin American arbitration and the choice of New York as a seat and for governing law. The panelists, comprising seasoned arbitration counsel, will provide perspectives from different Latin American jurisdictions and New York itself. The discussion will be followed by a drinks reception.
New York has long been a top arbitral seat for arbitrations originating in Latin America, and New York law has often governed the underlying contracts. In recent years, however, New York has seen growing competition from other US seats and seats elsewhere, including in Latin America. This panel of top practitioners in Latin America will discuss what choices parties in Latin American arbitrations are currently making and why with respect to the seat and governing law law and how New York stacks up against its competitors.
