Recent Developments in Accounting, Auditing and the Law Series

Recent Developments in Accounting, Auditing and the Law Series

Washington DC
Signature Event CLE

WilmerHale and the Center for Audit Quality are partnering to provide a multi-part series that will explore recent developments in accounting, auditing and the law, with particular relevance for issuers, audit committees and accounting firms. The second part of the series will be held on June 18, 2024, at WilmerHale’s Washington DC office, as well as remotely, and will feature a substantive panel discussion followed by a networking reception.

Part II: Exploring Recent Developments in Auditing featuring Kathleen M. Hamm, Former Board Member, PCAOB
Audit quality is supported by high-quality auditing standards, robust inspections and effective enforcement. The number of enforcement actions brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board against audit firms has steadily increased over the past several years, and regulators are continuously seeking higher penalties for violations. This panel will explore PCAOB standard-setting and inspections trends, as well as SEC and PCAOB enforcement trends, including the nature of underlying violations, SEC and PCAOB areas of focus, and connections between enforcement and recently adopted and proposed PCAOB standards. The panel will also address practical implications for auditors, audit firms and audit committees.

Speakers will include:

  • Kathleen M. Hamm, Former Board Member, PCAOB
  • Julie Bell Lindsay, CEO, Center for Audit Quality
  • Daniel L. Goelzer, Former Board Member, PCAOB
  • Catherine A. Lynch, Independent Board Director
  • Alan Wilson, Partner, WilmerHale

Please note: This session will be offered as a hybrid event. When registering, please choose whether you would like to attend in person in our Washington DC office or remotely for the 90-minute session.

We hope you can join us for this informative session. Virtual participants will have the opportunity to contribute questions online. Following the panel, in-person attendees will have the opportunity to interact with our panelists and their peers during our networking reception.

*CLE credit is not available for those who watch a recording of the webinar.
