WilmerHale and The Center for Audit Quality are partnering to provide a multi-part series that will explore recent developments in accounting, auditing and the law, with particular relevance for issuers, audit committees and accounting firms. The first part of the series will be held on November 2, 2023 at WilmerHale's Washington DC office, as well as remotely, and will feature a substantive panel discussion followed by a networking reception.

Part I: NOCLAR and Responsibilities of the Auditor

The role of the auditor has long been an area of focus, particularly following the failure of a company. In recent months, the PCAOB has proposed several changes to its standards that would affect the responsibilities of auditors if adopted. This panel will discuss those standard-setting activities, including the proposal to amend auditing standards around noncompliance with laws and regulations (NOCLAR), which garnered mixed support from PCAOB leadership and stakeholders, and the proposed new standard for general responsibilities of the auditor in conducting an audit. The discussion will outline the scope of the proposals; address initial considerations for auditors, issuers and audit committees if the standards are adopted; and share expectations for next steps.

Speakers will include:

  • Christina Ho, Board Member, PCAOB
  • Julie Bell Lindsay, CEO, Center for Audit Quality
  • Candace Duncan, Board Member, Discover Financial Services, Teleflex, and FTD
  • Jonathan Gregory, North America Controller, M&A and ESG Accounting, The Hershey Company
  • Alan Wilson, Counsel, WilmerHale

Please note: This session will be offered as a hybrid event. When registering, please choose whether you would like to attend in-person in our Washington DC office or remotely for the 90-minute session.

We hope you can join us for this informative session. Virtual participants will have the opportunity to contribute questions online. Following the panel, in-person attendees will have the opportunity to interact with our panelists and their peers during our networking reception. Register for this event.

*CLE credit is not available for those who watch a recording of the webinar.
