BBA Webinar: Pro Bono Opportunities with Prisoners’ Legal Services

Virtual
Speaking Engagement
Counsel Stephanie Lin will be speaking at the Boston Bar Association’s webinar “Pro Bono Opportunities with Prisoners’ Legal Services” on October 25. Ms. Lin will discuss the firm’s collaboration with Prisoners’ Legal Services on a pro bono case that WilmerHale filed in 2015 on behalf of a class of deaf and hard-of-hearing prisoners in Massachusetts Department of Corrections (“DOC”) custody. Together with our co-counsel, we have advocated to hold DOC accountable for providing a variety of accommodations, such as adequate and timely provision of hearing aids, proper interpreters, adapted telecommunication devices, and suitable visual and tactile notification mechanisms for announcements, to cure violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the 8th Amendment.
