The National Association of Colleges and University Attorneys (NACUA) hosted a members-only briefing on the topic Coronavirus on Campus: Legal and Operational Considerations. Panelists reviewed:

  • Campus legal issues related to the duty of care, the legal authority to restrict travel, contract administration;
  • Operational considerations including quarantines, campus closures, research operations and study abroad;
  • Practical advice for coordinating with external authorities and communicating with campus stakeholders; and
  • Other considerations related to planning for, preparing for and responding to Coronavirus.

WilmerHale Partner Alejandro Mayorkas—the former Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security who oversaw the Department’s response to the international Zika and Ebola outbreaks—and Partner Laura Schneider, both members of WilmerHale’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Task Force, participated as panelists during the briefing.
