David Bassett built a broad and respected practice that combined complex litigation experience with deep involvement in intellectual property and professional organizations. Over the course of his career, he advised clients on challenging legal matters while also contributing meaningfully to the governance and operation of community institutions. His long tenure at WilmerHale concluded with his retirement in 2025, marking the close of a distinguished period of service to clients and colleagues.
Throughout his career, Mr. Bassett remained active in professional and community leadership. He served on the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section and was a member of both the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Beyond his legal work, he chaired the Masconomet Regional School Committee, reflecting a sustained commitment to public service and community engagement.
