Matthew D. L. Fischler

Matthew Fischler provides strategic counsel to clients responding to high-profile corporate crises and advises on government investigations and congressional oversight. He began his career at the firm as a summer associate in 2018.

While pursuing his legal education, Mr. Fischler externed in the Executive Office of the Attorney General at the California Department of Justice. He was also a member of the UC Berkeley Law Policy Advocacy Clinic. Mr. Fischler participated in the clinic’s successful legislative effort to pass SB 190, which eliminated administrative juvenile justice fees in the state of California. 

Before attending law school, Mr. Fischler worked for six years in local government on a wide range of issues including economic development, transportation and infrastructure, veterans’ services, violence prevention, and urban poverty. Between 2011 and 2016, he held multiple roles in the office of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, including as director of policy planning. He started his career as an aide to the commissioner and chief of staff of the New York City Department of Probation. 

In 2015, Mr. Fischler was named to Forbes 30 Under 30: Law and Policy.
