Mark Hanin advises companies and individuals as they navigate government and regulatory investigations and litigation. Prior to rejoining WilmerHale, he was a postdoctoral fellow and Fritz Family fellow in the Ethics Lab of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University, where he taught a course on data ethics and carried out research on technology-related topics, including privacy and digital media. He also contributed to grant-funded projects, including developing a new framework for administrative data sharing and co-designing workshops on AI ethics for policymakers with Georgetown’s Center for Security & Emerging Technology. Mr. Hanin previously clerked for the Honorable Stephen F. Williams of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

While attending law school, Mr. Hanin interned at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of Administrative Litigation, where he worked on oil pipeline regulation cases, and Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners, where he assisted with research related to FERC requirements for electronic transmission facilities and wind and hydroelectric facility compliance with state and federal laws. He also served as co-director of Yale Law School’s Arbitration & Administrative Law Project. In that capacity, Mr. Hanin sat as an arbitrator to administer the Lemon Law Program under the auspices of Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection.
