WilmerHale Honored with T-Mobile’s Excellence in Diversity Award at Kansas Event

Recognition

WilmerHale recently received T-Mobile’s Excellence in Diversity award for the firm’s consistent dedication to the integration of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into all aspects of firm management and decision-making.

The award ceremony took place during an All-Hands Legal Meeting at T-Mobile’s Overland Park, Kansas location. Partners Hallie Levin, Jennifer Milici, Brittany Amadi and Lauren Moore represented the firm at the event, with Levin accepting the award and presenting remarks on behalf of WilmerHale.

T-Mobile is a major WilmerHale client with firm attorneys assisting the telecom giant in successfully navigating many significant regulatory and litigation matters over the years.

When accepting the award, Levin said: “This award from T-Mobile underscores the importance of collaboration between corporations and law firms in advancing DEI. It highlights the shared responsibility we have in shaping a more inclusive legal profession.  By holding each other accountable, we can continue to drive systemic change, break down barriers, and create opportunities for underrepresented voices to be heard and to excel in this arena.”

In informing the firm earlier this year that it was chosen for the award, General Counsel Mark Nelson said T-Mobile’s Law Firm Diversity Action Committee “considered qualifications from a sizeable group of excellent firms, but unanimously chose WilmerHale because of your exceptional commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity in the legal profession.”

He noted in particular:

  • “Outstanding diversity and inclusion initiatives that include creating an Executive Diversity and Inclusion Committee to establish a chain of accountability, and regularly reporting on your DE&I progress."
  • “The establishment of a Racial Justice Reform Initiative that, since its inception in 2020, has expended 55,500 pro bono hours on racial justice work and assigned two partners to spearhead the firm’s racial justice efforts.  We were impressed to learn that in 2022 alone, WilmerHale spent more than 10,000 pro bono hours on voting rights matters."
  • “Strong numbers demonstrating diverse representation, including having 44% women and 28% attorneys of color on your Global Management Committee and having a history of selecting diverse co-managing partners.”
