Ryanne Perio has experience in a wide array of complex commercial litigation matters, including contractual, securities, intellectual property and bankruptcy disputes. Ms. Perio has represented clients at trial in federal court and before arbitration panels in financial services, intellectual property, licensing and bankruptcy matters.

Ms. Perio was the firm’s 2018 Pickering Fellow and worked for six months at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama on civil rights litigation and issues related to the criminalization of poverty. 

Ms. Perio was a summer associate at WilmerHale in 2012. While pursuing her legal education, Ms. Perio served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Nathaniel M. Gorton of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She also completed internships for SAG-AFTRA and Atlantic Records and won a music law legal writing competition for the Grammy Foundation.

 

Experience

  • Representing the former CEO and chairman of major national retailer in fraudulent transfer and breach of fiduciary duty case arising out of the company’s bankruptcy.
  • Representing a leading financial institution in connection with several ERISA class action suits to which the financial institution was a third party. Prepared client witnesses for testimony in multiple depositions and at trial, where the court credited the client’s testimony as a reason for its favorable decision on all claims.   
  • Representing a leading broker-dealer in FINRA arbitrations arising out of Puerto Rico municipal bond market crash of 2013 and reached favorable settlements, including following trial.
  • Representing plaintiffs in a federal class action suit against a New Orleans bail bond company accused of overcharging fees for bail bonds and kidnapping and extortion in the collection of those fees.
  • Prevailed after a six-day trial on behalf of a Fortune 500 company in bankruptcy litigation seeking to enforce an order authorizing the debtor's sale of intellectual property. The Court ruled for the company on all issues, enforced the sale order, found the defendants in contempt of court, and awarded the company its attorneys’ fees incurred in enforcing the sale order. 
  • Reached a favorable settlement for the leading custodian bank in a state court action asserting breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, Uniform Securities Act and other state-law claims arising out of securities lending practices during the 2008–2009 credit crisis.
  • Successfully tried a complex computer software case in the American Arbitration Association’s International Centre for Dispute Resolution.
