Trishan Esram, Ph.D.

Senior Associate

Trishan Esram is an Associate whose practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of domestic, international and foreign patent applications. Dr. Esram also represents both petitioners and patent owners in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He works with a variety of technology clients, including those in the electronics and engineering and the software and hardware sectors. He is a named inventor on eleven granted patents.

After he received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Esram worked as a senior engineer in the Advanced Power and Energy Systems department of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. While there, he developed an innovative transactive control system for an electrical power grid, assisted small businesses in evaluating and improving their new technologies, and designed a smart micro grid for the US Army and evaluated a solar system design for army camps in Kuwait.

For two years, Dr. Esram worked as a senior engineer for SolarBridge Technologies, Inc., where he served as a key designer of a disruptive micro-inverter for alternating-current photovoltaic modules. Previously, Dr. Esram was a co-op hardware engineer with EMC Corporation and tested state-of-the-art data storage systems and contributed to the development of future-generation systems.

Dr. Esram is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
