Regina Klostermann

Regina Klostermann advises national and international companies on German and European antitrust, competition and merger control law

Presently, Ms. Klostermann is mainly acting for clients in preparing and conducting antitrust damages litigation. She has worked on cases involving complex factual issues in close cooperation with the client and external consultants, in particular economic experts. Her clients currently include Deutsche Bahn and a leading confectionery manufacturer in asserting damages claims. Further, she was involved in the development of the legal argumentation and strategy in these cases. She also advises national and international companies on German and European merger control law and on public/international law.

Prior to her work at WilmerHale, Ms. Klostermann was a research assistant at the Free University Berlin (chair for public and international law). While pursuing her legal education, she worked for the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, an international law firm in Berlin, and the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in Geneva.

Recent Highlights

  • Defending Deutsche Telekom in civil antitrust litigation concerning an alleged abuse of dominance by maintaining a margin squeeze in the local loop between 1998 and 2003.  
  • Representing Deutsche Bahn in connection with all aspects of asserting claims for several hundred million Euros in damages from the railtrack cartel, including litigation against major European steel producers.
  • Representing one leading German confectionery manufacturer in connection with all aspects of asserting claims in damages from the sugar cartel.
  • Advising clients in securing merger control clearance from the European Commission, German cartel authority and several further authorities worldwide.
